Video Card Upgrade

Post by Jezeran » Fri Feb 25, 2005 3:46 PM

I have my basic EQ machine up and running now, and I'd like to do the next upgrade. What would you guys/gals recommend in the way of a better video card...right now I have a 64 Meg Asus nvidia chipped thing.

I'm holding about 100 bucks for it.... :)

Personal preference is anything by NVidia, with strong leaning towards the actual GeForce line of cards. If your MoBo can handle it, look up a good PCI-E card, with minimum 128MB ram, otherwise, anything that has that much memory or more is good, the faster the GPU (like CPU but for graphics alone) the better, make sure it supports Direct X 9, and mainly, with video cards, you get what you pay for. Dont expect a $70 video card to run games for the next 5 years, and you'll be ok. Get a $300 video card, and that might be a reasonable expectation :)

Hope I've been *some* help. Good luck in getting your system in order :)
