Re: Relbeek?

Why are you being such a jerk about Relbeek?

Yeah, I know he posted more than his fair share of political drivel but he was a really awesome guy all around.

So what if he's fat, most everquest players are.

Re: Resumes and such

Resumes are sales pitches. Everyone who I have ever interviewed who lists 9000 programming languages on their resume is good at none of them. I don't even hire programmers, I hire security engineers, and they only need to demonstrate that they can read code well -- not write it, and these people sti...

Re: Resumes and such

-"Keep your resume on one page" isn't a good rule. "Keep your resume as concise as possible while articulating your assets" is a better rule. Some people just aren't going to be able to keep their resumes on one, two, or even three pages, and it's not seen as a bad thing WHEN THE PERSON'S EXPERIENCE...

Re: Mojave Experiment

I'll agree that it's just like it was with Win2k->XP, and that there isn't anything bad about Vista that makes it this way. I was just trying to illustrate that enterprises aren't switching yet because the cost isn't worth the reward. Eventually, XP won't be supported anymore, so it's not a matter o...

Re: Podcasts

I just signed up for the (C2C) podcast though! Just want to say that I love this. I downloaded the past 90 days worth of open lines yesterday and listened for about 6 hours. It's still just as awesome as it was in the old days, and Noory is a great host, I actually think I like him better than Bell.

Re: Mojave Experiment

But what functionality do Outlook, office and Sharepoint offer on Vista that they don't offer on XP?

I've never heard of anyone that actually used Dynamics in production -- but I can't imagine it not working with XP.

Re: Good Reads

I have actually been reccomended that before. Unfortunately they dont have it on mobipocket or fictionwise (the ebook stores that I use). I have also looked for it locally, but can't find it.

I'll order it from Amazon.

Re: Mojave Experiment

The question about enterprise Vista adoption is not a "Why not?" question, it's "Why?". Before even enumerating risks of Vista for the corporate desktop (legacy app functionality, user training, how much new hardware will we have to buy, etc), we must first understand what benefit Vista brings to th...

Yeah I used to listen to it when I played Quake/Starcraft/Everquest until all hours of the morning. It runs from 12am to 4am here so I kind of stopped listening when I got a regular schedule.

I just signed up for the podcast though!

Re: Good Reads

LCD displays are straining, but the eInk is certainly not. It's not a constantly powered screen like a computer monitor. The only time the device is actually powered on is when you are turning the page. The pixel elements flip to the desired state, and then stay there forever. Literally you can load...

Re: Good Reads

+1 on Blindness, Snow Crash, and Perdido Street Station. I have, as ashamed as I am to admit it, been indulging in epic fantasy series lately. Mainly, I am anxiously awaiting George RR Martin's next book in A Song of Ice and Fire. The four books that are out now are really good at what they are. The...

SKEPTICS GUIDE TO THE UNIVERSE - Really good show put on by some members of the New England Skeptical Society. Alternative medicine and intelligent design are common topics. Hey man! Work keeping me pretty busy, but I found some station time cards on sale so I thought maybe I would pop into EQ incognito-like. Kind of killed it when I posted this thread though :).

Ari - Thanks! I think I still have Khur's AIM.

Thanks,

EQ1 Cazic Thule server web communities

Short and sweet - Could anyone provide me with any information or links on general discussion type communities for the EQ1 cazic thule server? Something like the old brell boards. I have found the Sojo and Alarius and VC websites ... but am hoping to find something cross-guild. Edit: can't believe y...
