Best part of that video was Leiluu being LFG the whole time.

Re: I recovered my character!

Hmm... loaded Dd up and he's in Plane of Tranquility. Clicked into Time, and saw a rift thingy. Clicked on it. Looked scary. Gated out. Camped. That's probably me for another few years. :)

Hi Anshar!

EQ spoiled me for pretty much every other MMO. :( I still watch videos on YouTube every now and then.

Hahaha, I did the same on Ddrak about 5 years ago. Was all "WTF are all these spells and items???"

Re: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

Wow - that video made me think of Apple right now, but yes, it does apply to game companies as well. I love Assassin's Creed but it's hard to say that there's anything particularly innovative going on - just a prettier sandbox each time that's looking like most other Ubi sandboxes.

Re: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

I'm thinking they might have scooped up someone from Blizzard. Lots of "things" happening in Warcraft land. Activision laying off a lot. Mostly marketing/admin/publisher side from what I understand, not game dev side. That's largely due to losing a couple of dev studios, so don't have the work to s...

Re: Income Inequality

If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's the progressive breakdown of family structures and the 50's ideal of one income earner being able to support the (insert nation here) dream. There's a huge difference between Boomer parents that could have Dad working to support the family and go on a 2 week va...

Re: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

I may or may not be account sharing with some people in pre-alpha. I do have my own alpha account tho. Each stage of PA has made great strides in both mechanics/content. They recently hired a new animator so hopefully we get more fluid combat animations and not the literal 1998 EQ placeholders that...

Re: Trump is now president.

That is because most Parliamentary styles of government allow "radical" ideologies to flourish and have a party. Anytime things get out of control, they dissolve and start over. The US system is not designed in that fashion. It is a more deliberate process and the two houses of Congress are require...

Re: Income Inequality

The simple truth is that minimum wage jobs were never designed to be something you "live on", they are jobs that completely unskilled workers get to gain experience. This idea that you can live working at McDonald's is just a fantasy that people have concocted to explain why they continue to stay a...

Re: Trump is now president.

I'm not sure I agree that Western values place the individual above all else. All systems of government are created by ceding individual freedoms to the collective good, defining areas that individuals have to forfiet for the collective betterment of society - whether it be taxes, regulation, crimin...

Re: Income Inequality

Interestingly, the US has the lowest income mobility of the developed world. Essentially if you are born in poverty then it's very likely you're remain there, and likewise if you were born wealthy then you are likely to remain wealthy. Couple that with rising inequality and people are more likely to...

Re: Trump is now president.

I think you're prescribing far too much global organisation on their behalf. Much easier to say they're spread across a whole spectrum of views and not ready to compromise between each other... yet.

Re: Income Inequality

The top 1% own around $100 trillion, so distributed over 7 billion would put everyone permanently out of extreme poverty ($14k per person at 5% return gives around $2/day which is double the extreme poverty line). Probably not the best result, but the point I was making is that politics is local and...

Re: Trump is now president.

I'd argue both sides are playing from that game. It's interesting the power struggles in the Democratic party at the moment - by all rights they should romp home the next Presidential election, but I'm yet to see anyone they can actually rally behind.

Re: Income Inequality

If you look at extreme poverty, sure. Great article here: https://ourworldindata.org/extreme-poverty That's a different axis to income inequality in the first world though, and I guess I'm really talking about first world problems here. As income inequality rises in a nation, it destabilises it as p...

Fire it up now and then, but since my commute changed to not involve a lot of walking there's not nearly as much opportunity as I had before. What level is 100 million XP?
